Our pastor was born and raised in the Effingham area.  Having been saved at age 13 and called to preach at age 20, the Lord led him to Southside Baptist Church in March of 2014.  In August of 2015 he became our pastor.  He has been in church his entire life and has served many different roles including deacon, youth director, outreach director, and even chaplain at a local county jail.  After feeling called to preach in 2007 he took a small country church and became their pastor.  He pastored there for seven years and it was during this time that God began a great work in his heart.  You see the church he grew up in and the church he was pastoring were not Independent Fundamental Baptist churches.  During his time at that small country church God opened his eyes to the truth and it started our pastor on his own personal spiritual journey.  He knew something wasn’t right and he set out to get things settled in his heart.  After much prayer, study, and Holy Spirit conviction he came to the conclusion that an Independent Fundamental Baptist church is a true New Testament church.  It took a little while, but by the grace of God our pastor determined that an Independent Fundamental Baptist was what he was going to be.  His heart is to keep “Testifying…repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” and to “…earnestly contend for the faith…” and not compromise in this day of great apostasy.  He has a wife, Marci, two daughters, Hannah and Emma, and a son Conner.  We are excited here at Southside Baptist Church about what God has planned for us.
